History:
Back in 1988 Alan Jonns, a trumpet teacher decided to set up his own company specializing in supplying musical instruments to the Education Sector. Walthamstow Music went from strength to strength and by the mid 90’s was one of the largest suppliers in the UK, supplying hundreds of Schools and LEA’s.
In 2005 Alan passed away after a battle with Cancer. After a two year transitional period Matt Jonns, Alan’s son took over the business. The business is and always will be a family business. This means we are able to move quickly with new trends and not go through a complex, corporate system to make a small change to the way we run things.
A new dawn:
Umbrella Music was born in March 08 still concentrating on supplying Local Music Services and Schools but also to compete with the ever growing internet trade. www.umbrellamusic.co.uk aims to be the single site for any musician whether they are after advice or ready to buy.
In July 09 a state of the art website was launched which rivals any other in Europe. Our showroom and internet operation is run from our brand new premises which provides with an excellent space to demo all of our great products and also to quickly and efficiently send out many orders every day.

Yes you can, we have a fantastic showroom which demo’s a lot of the products we sell. We have product specific experts waiting to help you make an impartial decision on your purchase. We always welcome you to pop in and see us but if you are travelling a distance to try a certain product please make sure it is in stock with us and available for demo first.
Do you offer music lessons?
